Four Wheel Drive System

Many cars and light trucks today feature all wheel drive or four wheel drive. Each manufacturer has a slightly different system for providing power to all four wheels. They have one thing in common, some sort of differential or transfer case to get the power from left to right and front to rear. Symptoms of four wheel drive failure to look for include: lighted dash indicators, failure to lock the front and rear wheels together, shaking and vibration or grinding noises when engaged.
